CHAPTER 3: RULES OF FIGHTING

 You looked up and down the request board but never caught something that met your eye. It had been a month since you joined the Fairy Tail guild. You managed to find a place. It was small, but cozy. The rent payment was 85,000 Jewel a month. But it was worth it.

 You sighed. "Nothing. Not a damn thing looks interesting."


 Natsu came over and inspected the board. "What're you talking about ____? Thieves, Trolls, even monsters."

 "Exactly! Nothing but bored rooms and snooze fests."

 "How is fighting monsters a snooze fest?" Gray said walking over.

 "Did you live my childhood?"

 "No"

 "Then you didn't fight dark guild every other day, and monsters every other week"

 Natsu lit up to this "Really? Well if your so tough then fight me"

 You looked at him like he was crazy "Natsu? How would that work? Besides I have better things to do"

 "Oh are you scared?"

 "No. Just saying were both fire dragon slayers. My magic won't effect you and your magic won't effect me. It'd be pointless."

 "Then we won't use magic. Just pure strength"

  You turned to him. "very well then I accept your request but I will not be the one to lose"

 He grinned"I'm all fired u-"

 You finally got home from your job. It was only two days, but that included rain, mud, a monster that was hard to defeat in a rainstorm, and almost getting struck by lightning...twice...

Clementine was already asleep. You couldn't blame her. You were exhausted. Your body ached all over and there was a huge gash on your side. You would probably ask Wendy for help, as soon as you got your sleep. You haven't slept since you left the guild. You practically fell asleep when you hit the pillow, and tried to enter a blissful sleep.



 ...It was the nightmare again...

 You woke up screaming again. It had gone on for several nights now. But never this vivid. And your headache didn't help.


 "____!"


 You looked up just in time to find a person jump on top you. You let out a shriek of pain where your gash was hit by this intruder.

 "Shit!" it was a man. "are you ok?"

 You turned on a light as soon as he got off of you. You came to find a concerned pink-haired boy with a scaled-like scarf.

 "Natsu?! What are you doing here?!"

 "Well I came over a couple days ago to ask for a rematch, but you weren't here. I asked around and they said you wen't on a job."

 "So that gives you permission to enter my house."

 "I've been checking up for the last two days to make came sure you came back. I saw you go in, but you looked really tired. I figured you didn't want to talk. Then I heard you scream..."

 You sat up "That's really sweet Natsu"

 "Why did you scream?"

 "umm...I...well"

 "____?" he seemed serious now

 "I'm sorry Natsu...I'd rather not talk about it..."

 "____"


 "Natsu please don't pry"

 He sighed "Fine I'm so-"

 "Natsu?"

 You looked at him. He was looking at you. But not at you. At your gash.


 "Natsu...before you freak out-"

 "Who did it!?"

 "Natsu-"

 "NO! WHO THE FUCK HURT YOU?!"

 "Natsu calm down!"

 "____! WHO DID IT!?"

 Without thinking you slapped him. "CALM DOWN!"

 He stood there stunned for a while, before sitting on the bed again. "Sorry...I just..."

 "Natsu...people get hurt in battles. That's just how it is. I've seen you, get hurt plenty of times. This just happens to be a fight gone wrong. But I'll get help from Wendy tomorrow, ok."

 He put his head in his hands. "I know! I know! I just don't like seeing my nakama hurt..."

 You studied him for a second. "You know...if I was fighting this Natsu the other day, I wouldn't have won"

 He looked up at you "Huh?"

 "The Natsu that fights for his friends. The Natsu I was fighting, just wanted to fight. He didn't stand for anything."

 He scoffed "Anything else I should know?"

 You thought for a moment before getting up and digging through your bedroom drawers.

 "What are you doing?"

 You didn't respond before taking out a small book, with a leather cover. You gave it to Natsu.

 "You burn it, I kill you. You destroy it, I kill you. You damage it in any way..."

 "You'll kill me,. Can you at least tell me what it is?"

 "Everything I've learned about fighting throughout my entire life. I started it when I was (age). You can give it back to me whenever."

 He skimmed through the pages all to the last page so far that you wrote a few days ago

 
  Rule 707:
If  you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything

 "Well this gives a new meaning of 'the rule book.' When did you write this last one?"

 "After our fight."

 He nodded. "Thanks ____." He said getting up. And for some reason, he hugged you. Then jumped out the window, and wen't on his way.

 You stood there in a daze for a moment as a slight blush crossed your face. You looked over at Clementine sleeping happily and smiled. You knew what she'd do if she was awake. Make fun of how 'He Likkkkkkkkkkkkkes youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.' You got in to bed again and went to an attempt at a peaceful sleep.


              No matter what you did, you couldn't escape it...
